RECORDING BACKGROUND

For all you recording and equipment junkies (and I know you're out there) here's some background on the Sudden Impact recording.  All the tenor trombone cuts are played on a 1957 model King 2B with a Bach 11C mouthpiece (slightly modified by the late Joe Ortolano by filing the rim down a bit).  The alto trombone cut is played on a Bach 39G alto trombone with a Bach 12C mouthpiece.

The acoustic piano used on the recording is a Yamaha grand.   It's a great ax.  Whenever I had to wait for the recording engineer I would play that piano.  As far as the drums, cymbals and basses--I'm not even going to go there.  I don't think I have enough band width to cover all that gear.
